Celebrity Concert for Cope in Fermoy's Palace Theatre

Hilary Reynolds, vocal coach and Musical Director of The Orpheus Choir, Co. Cork, will be presenting a variety concert in the Palace Theatre in Fermoy on Friday, 20th. May at 8pm, solely featuring her own singing students and the community choir she founded in Fermoy more than ten years ago.

The Palace Theatre - Fermoy
Many of her students are well known to a wide audience not only in Fermoy, but also further afield, whether it be with the resounding bass tones of Tom 'The Giant' (Fee-fi-fo-fum') Beresford or Vera Noonan's star-spangled assent to the finals of the over 60's in Cork's City Hall with many Fermoy fans in attendance. Claire O'Sullivan, now resident in Glanworth, recently heard on County radio stirring hearts with her radiant soprano voice in songs of yesteryear and Liam Fenton, that crystal-clear tenor who has been a cornerstone for the Fermoy Musical Society for so long and a young, bright-eyed, up-and-coming starlet from Ballysaggart, Rebecca Fennessy. A close-harmony female trio led by high soprano Winnie Hickey from Glounthaune will be making its debut that night and representing neighbouring Mitchelstown some unique talent with Eamonn Walsh, who started studying with Hilary as a boy soprano with a voice of exceptional beauty and is now continuing his singing studies as an equally accomplished tenor, Pauline O'Mahony, who, with

powerful expressiveness and stage presence, holds her audience captivated and Gerald 'The Voice' Lane, the Sinatra of the Emerald Isle.
A number of these celebrities are also founding or near-founding members of The Orpheus Choir, formed in 2005 when Hilary brought a band of enthusiastic singers together in the Fermoy Community Youth Centre. The Youth Centre is still the choir's 'home', where it holds weekly practices upstairs in the Anderson Room. Last year it celebrated its tenth anniversary with a Gala Opera concert in St. Fin Barre's Cathedral in Cork and this year has appeared in the Arts Centre in Kilworth, in Christchurch, Fermoy together with Cór Geal, a choir from Whitechurch and, most recently, in the Friendship Week concert in the Palace Theatre.

Tickets (€10,-) are available from the box office of the Community Youth Centre in Fermoy.
