Orpheus Concert in Cobh
In the picturesque setting of Cobh's restored Victorian railway station, The Orpheus Choir will be presenting a Musical Evening in aid of Cobh Museum, on Saturday, 19th. November, 2016 at 8pm, bringing a varied programme of both Irish ballads, amongst others, favourites like 'As I hear the sweet lark sing' and 'Danny Boy' and other folksongs from far and wide, combined with contemporary choral pieces by American and Canadian composers.
Invited as special guests to join them for the evening are The Connolly Collective, a highly talented young vocal group initially started up by members of the Connolly family from Dunmanaway in West Cork and further extended with diverse partners and spouses. They will be adding their own very special brand of folk, spirituals, blues and original material to the evening's entertainment.
The large entrance hall of the Heritage Centre, thanks to its high, ornamental cast-iron and glass ceiling, boasts an excellent acoustic and should enhance the choral and vocal ensemble sound beautifully. The café will be serving refreshments in the interval: coffee/tea/glass of wine and a raffle with bumper prizes will be held.
